Olivia Rodrigo is no stranger to speaking out against President Donald Trump.
Last year, the 23-year-old pop star slammed the administration for using her song "All-American Bitch" in a video promoting ICE, commenting, "don't ever use my songs to promote your racist, hateful propaganda."
Now, she's using her massive platform to call attention to Trump's defunding of Planned Parenthood. As a result of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, signed into law on July 4, 2025, the president cut Medicaid funding to Planned Parenthood, which led dozens of clinics to close and millions of patients to lose access to abortions and other reproductive healthcare.
Olivia highlighted the impact of those budget cuts in a promotional video for her upcoming all-women music festival, Daisy Chain Fields. Set to her song "My Way," the video is posted on the Instagram and X accounts for the festival and captioned, "lawmakers: don't go, go making decisions where you don't belong" — a play on the "My Way" lyrics.
The video begins zoomed in on Olivia's face, then zooms out to show a group of women standing behind her, arms crossed with solemn expressions. The screen reads, "learning that nearly 30 Planned Parenthood health centers have closed since President Trump signed a law 'defunding' Planned Parenthood."
Then, as the "My Way" chorus joyfully declares, "You're in my way, now," the video cuts to the women dancing as the on-screen text switches to: "but we'll never stop fighting for sexual and reproductive health care!!"
In addition to the video, Olivia toured Planned Parenthood facilities in LA to raise awareness about the organization's work and mission. She will also be donating 100% of the profits from the Daisy Chain Fields Festival to 10 non-profits that support women's health and education, including Planned Parenthood.
These efforts build on the singer's long-standing advocacy for women's reproductive rights throughout her career. While on her GUTS world tour, she launched Olivia Rodrigo's Fund 4 Good, a philanthropic initiative that supports non-profits providing women's health services and education. She also received Planned Parenthood's Catalyst of Change award in 2025.
Online, the 23-year-old singer is receiving all the praise for championing these causes so boldly, with one person calling her one of the few celebrities to do so "in no half-baked fashion."
Many said they wished other female celebrities with similarly massive platforms would follow suit. Several people on Reddit called out Taylor Swift in particular, who's faced criticism in the past for how infrequently she's spoken out on social and political issues throughout her decadeslong career.
"I wish more famous people used their platforms like this (*cough cough TS)!" one person wrote, with another adding, "[Olivia] is steamrolling anything Taylor swift has ever put into existence with her basic intelligence and activism and I’m here for it. I don’t listen to either of their music, but I want to support this woman and appreciate her using her voice to advocate for women. Go Olivia!!"
"I’m not a fan of her music but I’m a huge fan of her advocacy for reproductive rights and healthcare," someone else said.
