The dress in question was a gorgeous Schiaparelli piece designed by Daniel Roseberry, and Zendaya — who plays Athena in the recently released Christopher Nolan film — looked absolutely phenomenal in it.
That said, several fans were shocked and disappointed that Law had taken a private flight to collect the gown — especially given that the Eurostar train runs regularly between London and Paris and takes only about an hour longer than a plane journey.
One person tweeted, “the ultra rich are making me hate fashion. we are (rightly) pressured to shop second hand, support local designers, etc, but but but someone across the world needs a dress for five minutes,” while another wrote, “It's really ‘eat the rich’ even the ones I like. Sending a private jet for a dress and meanwhile we're stuck drinking water that tastes like paper and letting ourselves die of heat without turning on the AC.”
Now, Law has drawn criticism again after seemingly looking down on multimillionaire Tyra Banks for flying economy.
The remark was made during a recent episode of Project Runway, which Law is currently starring in as a judge, after Tyra likened part of a contestant’s outfit to a travel neck pillow. “It looked to me like an airplane pillow, that you put on when you’re on the airplane and you don’t wanna be sleeping like this,” she said as she rolled her head around.
Law then interjected and asked Tyra, “You still fly economy?” The ex-America's Next Top Model host paused for a moment before replying, “I do, I do economy sometimes,” to which Law said, “Chile.”
Several viewers quickly labeled Law “out of touch” and “messy” for seemingly flaunting his wealth while shading Tyra. “we need to go back to when flaunting your wealth was considered tacky,” one Reddit comment said, while someone on X wrote, “read the room talking about you still fly economy in THIS economy.”
“Stuff like this no longer gag me, especially considering the times we are living in..What's wrong with flying economy?” another user agreed, while someone else called Law’s comment “tasteless.”
Some people suggested that Law's "chile" comment was actually meant to imply that Tyra was lying about flying economy. However, others argued that he still questioned whether she flies economy unprompted, simply because she mentioned a standard travel pillow. “Maybe I’m too woke, but looking down on someone for flying economy is so disgusting and out of touch,” someone said. “It’s grotesque when rich or famous people behave like this, as if flying economy is so subpar and disgusting,” another user wrote.
And as some people suggested that Law has a habit of “boasting about flying private,” one Reddit user suggested, “we really are back in the 2000s.”
