And this week, Anne sat down with her The End of Oak Street costar Ewan McGregor to discuss some of these viral moments in more detail.

“So there was this one where I was walking down the street. I was early to go to the gym, and did I get on a piece of cardio equipment? No, I didn’t,” Anne said after Ewan asked her to share her “favorite meme” of herself.

“There was a bakery around the corner, and I bought a cupcake,” she continued. “And they gave me a bag, and I thought, OK, that’ll be my reward after I work out. And mind you, I’m seven months pregnant.”

“I’m walking down the street, I’m like, I’m just gonna eat the cupcake now, and then I’ll burn it off!” she recalled. “I start eating the cupcake, only to realize I’m having my photograph taken by a pap.”

Anne noted that she looked up at the photographer and pulled a disappointed face, which was later memed as, “Me realizing I ate all the cupcakes.”

Anne then went on to discuss another one of her most famous memes, which she described as “the forever face of HR telling you that you’re about to be fired.”

If you didn’t know, the meme surfaced after Anne made a virtual guest appearance on RuPaul's Drag Race in 2021 to give the queens a word of advice ahead of a challenge.

Recalling the moment the meme was born, Anne said, “It was during the pandemic. I was doing this Zoom, and I had a panic attack.”

“I just flushed from here to here,” she said, gesturing toward her neck and face. “I started sweating, and my hair got really matted to my head, and I just smiled. And somebody made me, like, the forever face of HR.”

Adding that her smile went “nowhere near” her eyes, Anne laughed as she discussed the widely circulated meme. However, several fans were shocked to learn that the actor was actually having a panic attack amid the viral moment, and took to Reddit to commend her “great sense of humor.”

“Damn, didn't know she was having a panic attack in that picture. That's pretty intense,” one person said. “ I definitely would have never guessed that she had a panic attack,” someone agreed.

“Honestly it’s really gracious of her to be able to enjoy these memes considering she was having a panic attack in one of them and rightfully annoyed with paparazzi in the other one,” one comment read.

Someone else added, “I feel like this speaks to how elegantly she can basically remind us that you never know what people are going through. Idk if I could ever fully be okay with my panic attack memorialized into a meme given that they are so brutal, even if it was several years ago!”
