As you have probably seen, Tom Holland and Zendaya are back on the promo circuit for their new movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day — marking their first media tour as husband and wife.
For context, the two first went public with their romance in 2021, but it is thought that they actually got together much earlier than that; they first met when they were cast as Peter Parker and MJ in Marvel’s Spider-Man reboot back in 2016, when they were both just 19 years old.
It was during the promo tour for Spider-Man: Homecoming the following year that fans started to speculate that there was something more going on between them. At the time, the costars laughed off the reports and insisted that they were just “best friends” — but it’s safe to say that we all now know this wasn’t the truth. In fact, the two got engaged back in 2024, and Tom recently confirmed that they are now married.
Earlier this month, they made their first red carpet appearance together in over four years, and since then, they’ve undertaken a bunch of joint interviews in support of their latest film. One of these interviews was with Spanish TV show Antena 3 Noticias, and fans of the couple have been left obsessed with one moment in particular.
In a clip that has since gained traction on Reddit, Tom is discussing what his character, Peter Parker, has learned throughout the franchise. With Zendaya sitting by his side, the 30-year-old actor says: “Probably the most important lesson he’ll ever learn, or has ever learned, is the importance of friendship and community, and asking for help, and relying on loved ones to pick you up when you're at your lowest moment.”
“And I think for young people that have the fear of missing out, they should dive in, see their friends, and get out the house, and make memories, and have wonderful experiences,” Tom went on. “And I hope that this movie can inspire young kids to do that.”
Having waited for Tom to finish what he was saying, Zendaya, 29, then turned to him and noted: “When you say ‘young kids’ it’s like…” to which Tom sheepishly interjected: “I know! Like I’m some old man, I know, so patronizing!”
Zendaya continued to playfully rib her husband, quipping: “Grandpa over here! Turns 30, and now he’s like: ‘These young kids, get out there; you still have time left!’”
Tom looked pretty embarrassed but took the whole thing in stride, bashfully saying: “I know, I know. So, so stupid. So sorry.”
“I noticed that as well! I’ve been really trying not to talk over people, even when it’s to joke or affirm them and this is a good example of respectfully including yourself in a conversation,” a popular reply adds.
Meanwhile, another comment notes: “no wonder Tom and Zendaya are together, they have so much natural chemistry!” Somebody else agreed: “You can see that relationship is based on love and respect. I hope they really last long time.” One more wrote: “Look at her giggle so lovingly. It s funny but not that funny unless you extra love the guy 😄 the cutest.”
