“The Lady Sitting Next To Me SCREAMED”: This Trailer Playing Before “The Odyssey” Is Scaring Moviegoers, And These Hilarious Reactions Have Me Crying

“I was waiting for The Odyssey to start and then Jessica Chastain’s head and contorted body popped out from under a table and I jump a foot in the air.”

When I watched the trailers at my showing of The Odyssey, I was prepared for a Trojan horse, angry gods, and lots of ocean water.

And of course, The Odyssey is no warm, cozy, family-friendly film. I knew to expect some blood and gore. But I was not prepared to be scared out of my mind by a trailer that would make me want to sleep with the lights on for the next six months.

But that's exactly what happened to me — and other moviegoers — when the trailer for Other Mommy popped up before the start of The Odyssey.

The trailer starts out with what looks to be a mom and daughter in their kitchen enjoying what looks like a wholesome chat on a sunny day.

But no, no, no.

Out of nowhere, Jessica Chastain transforms into some sort of bodysnatcher, and that's the exact moment when moviegoers quickly realized they were in a full-on, unexpected horror situation.

When Jessica contorted her body like a praying mantis, I literally started saying, "No," over and over in my seat with my jacket over my head, rocking back and forth next to my friend.

Apparently, I'm not the only one who had gotten the living daylights scared out of them as well. And I get it. We were expecting the horrors of war and pissed off mythological gods, of course. But jump scares and creepy body-stealing beings were not what we signed up for.

Now that the Other Mommy trailer is released online, people are sharing their hilarious reactions from seeing it first in the theater while just trying to watch The Odyssey, and some of these are pure gold. Here's what they're saying:
