A bunch of Punker shit like No New York, The Buzzcocks, The Damned and heaps of Return to Forever, Jeff Beck, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Sun Ra, Black Sabbath, Budgie!
And a little bit of Burt Bacharach, the Carpenters, Karen Carpenter has the most tuned voice in the game, well, in the intonation game. Jean Carne is the top female vocalist of all time.
Preferred format If I had it my way I would listen to reel to reel. It’s something about a home stereo reel to reel that feel super analog to me, like an early ‘70s audiophile set up, your Uncle’s setup… Then there’s CDs. I love to push a button and scroll. I can’t leave out the sound of a stylus bouncing across vinyl collecting dust. But hey, YouTube and a cruddy degradation stream can rock too. 8 track!

Vibrations, Roy Ayers Ubiquity
I remember hearing this on vinyl in 1976 and falling in love with the xylophone; it sounded so smooth yet had a Black hippy vibe. I’d put this album on to greet my Dad when he arrived home from a long day’s work, to insure a good mood… Roy Ayers is one of my musical heroes.

Dreaming’s Out of Season, The Montclairs
Phil Perry is my favorite male vocalist and the songs on this album always throw me back to red light basement party days. I can smell the Pro-Line and reefer, real R&B, real harmonies, string arrangements, drumming, bass work ….real shi’.

Graham Central Station, Graham Central Station
I went to school on Graham, a student of the real authentic thumbing, the real growling and digging up bass lines like shoveling a foxhole. Funk at its finest, the song “Hair” is the blueprint for thumbing the electric bass.

Revelation, Doug Carn
Featuring the truest voice in female vocals, Jean Carne. This album is the type of jazz that I love most. From the Black Jazz [Records] label comes this gem that reminds me of Rubba Dub jazz, Jazz of the African Americans that yearn for their roots in Africa through a western form of blues called jazz. This album is an African warrior chant.

Presence, Led Zeppelin
Presence was my introduction to hard rock. I consider myself more of a Black Sabbath head, but the Presencealbum spoke to my young riff-making aspirations. Presence always gets my attention and the album cover makes me feel a lil anxious.
