Viengsamai Fetters at Kensington’s Erewhon imprint took North American rights, at auction, to Prince of Night by Brittney Arena (pictured l.), the first in a new romantasy duology, from Jennifer Azantian at Azantian Literary Agency. Set in “a land where dreams are forbidden,” per the publisher, the novels follow “a chronically ill sculptor who is caught dreaming and must ally with a dangerous and magnetic phantasm to take down the cursed god of the dream realm in one night—or else be trapped there forever.” Publication is set for fall 2027 and fall 2028, respectively.

Rebecca Brewer at Bloomsbury Archer bought world English rights to Gabe Converse’s The Body Remembers from Mara Hollander at Azantian Literary Agency. In the horror novel, a “trans man’s pre-transition body washes up on the beach in his hometown and is coaxed back to life by his transphobic family, threatening his own survival,” per the publisher. Release is slated for fall 2027.

Juliana Nador at Simon Maverick landed, at auction, in a two-book deal, world English rights to Seren Rose’s debut, The Song of Salt and Shadow, from Angie Ojeda Hazen at Lunar Literary Agency. The romantasy follows “a siren born without a tail who escapes relentless hunters by boarding a haunted, cursed pirate ship,” only to be drawn into “a slow-burn enemies-to-lovers romance with the ship’s enigmatic captain,” per the publisher. A pub date has not been announced.

Seema Mahanian at Pamela Dorman preempted North American rights to M. Colón-Margolies’s Émigrés from Julia Kardon at HG Literary. The novel follows “a diverse group of recent arrivals to Paris in 2015 as they navigate love, fear, ambition, and grief while trying to find their footing in a city gripped by unease and political tension,” per the publisher. A pub date has not been announced.

Hilary Redmon at Knopf acquired North American rights to John Carreyrou’s Satoshi’s Secret from Eric Lupfer at Calligraph. The book recounts the Bad Blood author’s investigation into the true identity of Bitcoin inventor Satoshi Nakamoto, “along the way exploring the origins of a $2.6 trillion industry and revealing a mosaic of our epoch’s economic, political, and cultural fracture,” per the publisher. Publication is scheduled for fall 2028.

Ghjulia Romiti at Forever won, at auction, in a two-book deal, Gina Banks’s We Have So Many Problems from Joanna MacKenzie at Nelson Literary Agency. The debut novel centers on “a single mom science content creator who gets the opportunity of a lifetime to fly to the International Space Station, only to get stranded with the astronaut who broke her heart,” per the publisher. A summer 2027 release is set.

• Andy Ward and Molly Turpin at Random House took North American rights to Good Question by Atlantic writer and former CBS anchor John Dickerson, “an examination of the basic unit of curiosity—the question itself—featuring real-life stories from New York City detectives, doctors, philosophers, and more,” from Tina Bennett at Bennett Literary. • Helen Rouner at Penguin Press acquired North American rights, at auction, to Emily Ratajkowski’s Motherfucker, a memoir inspired by her viral Cut essay about single motherhood, from David Kuhn and Rachel Anne Cantor at Aevitas Creative Management. A pub date has not been announced.

• Stefan Tobler at And Other Stories netted world English rights to Backstreets of Memory by Brazilian author Conceição Evaristo, translated by Annie McDermott, along with two other works of fiction, from Mariana Warth at Pallas Editora. No pub date has been set.
